n pop rock band. They were formed in 1983 as Geisha Detail, composed of Chris Doheny, Ken Shepard, John Nyman, Donoghue Doheny and Peter Robertson. They changed their name to Geisha and signed with EMI. The released their debut album In 1985 they released a serious of singles that sold well in Melbourne (with "Kabuki" reaching #20 on the Melbourne charts) followed by their debut self titled album. In 1986 they rereleased an earlier single followed by "Part Time Love Affair" which reached #3 on the Melbourne charts and by the end of the year were operating as a three piece with Chris Doheny, Shepard and Brett Luton.

In 1987 Geisha changed to Doheny, Steve Carter, Laurence Maddy, Tommy Hosie and Rob Dean

). They released a second album, Midnight to Dawn, and some more singles and broke up in April 1988.

In 1998 EMI released a best of and Geisha temporarily reformed for a live performance.

Doheny released an album of acoustic versions of Geisha songs in 2006. 2006 also saw the release of No Second Prize (recorded in the late 1980s). In 2007 Doheny formed a new lineup of Geisha with Joe Matera.

Chris Doheny released a solo single, "Can You Hear The Rain" (Roadshow Music), in 1997 and has played with Diamond Dogs, All the Young Dudes and Dragonfly. Doheny released a six track mini album with his band "All The Young Dudes" in 1991. 1993 saw his hard rock project "Dragonfly" (with Craig Harnath of Kids in the Kitchen

) release an EP "River Of Love" and another EP "Black Money". In 1994 Doheny was recruited to sing "More Than A Game", the theme song for The Footy Show

, which charted in the top 40, becoming Doheny's first appearance on the Australian Charts as a solo artist.

January 2010 Geisha release a new/compilation album Titled "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" through the Australian Music Label Diamond Dog Records.

The album contains the single "Birthday"(previously an itunes release only)and a "double A" release to radio of "Mystery Writer/Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band". The album also has every single released since 1985 digitally re-mastered. Extra tracks are the Small Faces "Tin Soldier" and The Beatles "Come Together" which appeared on the 1985 vinyl album but never before released on CD.

In late 2010, guitarist Joe Matera left the group to pursue a solo career.
