She founded the Gay Culverhouse Players Outreach Program,Inc. which assists retired NFL players access the benefits to which they may be entitled. Culverhouse is a nationally recognized horsewoman competing on the paso fino horses. She has won many Grand National titles and is recognized as one of the top amateur riders in the country. Culverhouse is the author of "Throwaway Players: The Concussion Crisis from Pee Wee Football to the NFL." She is currently writing a book concerning miliaty veterans, their concussions and their suicides.

She continues her work as a child and family advocate for persons with special needs.
