, the CDP has a total area of 3 square miles (7.8 km²), all land. It is a nonlegal entity governed by the Town of North Hempstead, bordered by Hillside Avenue to the north (vis-a-vis with Herricks), the Long Island Railroad to the south, Herricks Road to the east, and Denton Avenue to the west (vis-a-vis with unincorporated New Hyde Park. However, some official village and town maps reflect that Garden City Park spills over north into Herricks. Mail delivery is provided by the New Hyde Park Post Office utilizing the 11040 Zip Code.

Garden City Park is known for having one of Long Island's best soccer teams: "The Garden City Park Tide". Winning over 100 games and having 2 undefeated seasons.

The Garden City Park Fire Department is known for once having one of the best racing teams in New York State, the Mustangs are 11 time champions of the 1st battalion and have recently brought back the racing team in an effort to bring back the glory to its department and its town.
