Galanz is a Chinese
company and the largest producer of microwave oven
s in the world. It is based in Shunde, Guandong (China). Founded in 1978 by Liang Qingde, Galanz was originally a company that dealt in the trading of duck feathers. In 1993, Galanz made a deal with Toshiba
of Japan for producing Toshiba microwave ovens, and Galanz later purchased the microwave division from Toshiba. Production started slowly with only ten thousand microwaves produced the first year, but expanded rapidly after that. Currently, Galanz produces over 15 million microwave ovens a year which is about 40% of the world market and has 600 patents in microwave oven technology. In addition to microwave ovens, the company has recently begun producing air conditioners.
