Georgetown University Student Investment Fund (GUSIF) is a business/investing/finance organization at Georgetown University
. GUSIF seeks to teach investment strategies and educate its members via presentations, competitions and discussions.
GUSIF’s membership is currently open to any undergraduate student at Georgetown University
. In addition to GUSIF's primary goal of educating members on the fundamentals of investing, GUSIF strives to offer members the following:
GUSIF's investment management strategy has led GUSIF's portfolio to consistently outperform major benchmark averages every year since its inception. GUSIF’s financial success has allowed the organization to host numerous corporate and business presentations, including notable guests such as Peter Weinberg
, former CEO of Goldman Sachs International and co-founder of Perella Weinberg Partners; Prudential Financial CEO John Strangfeld
, who was the firm's CIO at the time of his meeting with GUSIF; and, CNBC's Jim Cramer who taped Mad Money
live from Georgetown's campus in 2006. Other achievements include the first annual Georgetown Stock Pitch Conference, in which twelve teams competed for a grand prize of eight hundred dollars.
The Fund is broken into the following industries: Industrials & Materials, Healthcare, Financials, Retail & Media, Energy & Utilities, Technology and Telecommunications, and Special Situations. Each industry is led by a Portfolio Manager and includes Vice Presidents, Associates, and Analysts.
Members learn not only how to analyze market sectors and securities, but also learn how to effectively present their ideas to others. Each week industries pitch their best investment ideas, after their trade rational is presented to the club, members vote to whether the said security should be added to the portfolio.

History
Georgetown University Student Investment Fund (GUSIF) was founded in 1997 by Georgetown undergraduate students with the objective of educating members through interactive portfolio management. From 1997-2010, GUSIF’s assets under management grew to approximately $370,000, with the portfolio primarily consisting of equity and fixed income securities. The Fund started with an initial investment of $100,000 from Georgetown University in 1997, an additional $100,000 from the Alumni Association in 2000, and an anonymous donation of $100,000 in 2007 to create a real estate portfolio, which invests in real estate investment trusts.GUSIF’s membership is currently open to any undergraduate student at Georgetown University

The Georgetown University Student Investment Fund offers members a unique, real world investing experience through education and hands-on portfolio management. An important goal of GUSIF is to educate members about investing and strengthen their knowledge of financial markets. During the fall semester, members of the executive board present to the club lectures ranging from the fundamentals of equity investing to resume workshops. Intertwined in these lectures are discussions of current events to provide members a better understanding of current economic conditions.The Fund is broken into the following industries: Industrials & Materials, Healthcare, Financials, Retail & Media, Energy & Utilities, Technology and Telecommunications, and Special Situations. Each industry is led by a Portfolio Manager and includes Vice Presidents, Associates, and Analysts.
