GEAR licenses its API to many companies, such as Apple and Symantec. The GEAR drivers are used programs such as iTunes. Known as "GEARWorks", the GEARWorks SDK provides high-level functionality to applications, allowing them to format data using optical storage standards such as CD Digital Audio, CD-ROM, Video-CD, DVD-Video, DVD-ROM and DDP.
