Fylkingen runs a stage in Stockholm (with the same name), used for festivals, chamber music, new music, experimental performances, modern dance performances and intermedia. Fylkingen also runs and the record label Fylkingen Records. Fylkingen's first concert of electroacoustic music was arranged in 1952, in collaboration with Sveriges Radio

During the 1960s, Fylkingen was one of the main forces behind the creation of EMS, Elektroakustisk Musik i Sverige (the society for electroacoustic music in Sweden).

In December every second year since 2001, Fylkingen awards a prize from Åke Hodell
