Frotenac staked the land for uranium exploration in the Sharbot Lake

. The land is unceded by the Algonquins, First Nations
peoples in the area, who barricaded the entrance when it was discovered Frontenac had started exploration on their land. Members of the Shabot Obaadjiwan and Ardoch First Nations protested the prospect of uranium mining along with non-native cottage owners and an array of concerned citizens. Protest issues range from the unceded land to concerns about taking uranium out of the ground, and defensive car bomb testing being done on the land for the military.
On October 12, 2007 the protesters left the blockade after Frontenanac Ventures agreed to a mediation process with representatives of the First Nations groups along with representatives of the Canadian and Ontario governments.
Before the mediation agreement the president of Frontenac, George White, said he would comply with an Ontario Judges orders to stay off the land for now. White is concerned his business may suffer as a reverse takeover bid with Silvio Ventures appears to have soured. Trading still remains halted with both companies despite White stating Silvio has ceased communications with Frontenac.
