Fred Scotchbrook was an English
football player and manager, who managed Stockport County
and Wolverhampton Wanderers
.
, before joining Football League side Bolton Wanderers
in 1914. However, he failed to make the grade as a professional and soon retired from playing to become a coach for the club, and later assistant-secretary.
He became manager of Stockport County
in November 1924, where he narrowly saved them from relegation to the Third Division
. The next campaign started badly though, as the team lose six of its opening seven fixtures, leading to Scotchbrook's dismissal in February 1926.
He was appointed manager of Second Division
side Wolverhampton Wanderers
the next month, after the sudden departure of Albert Hoskins
. He took the club to a 15th place finish in his only full season at Molineux
, 1926–27. After a heated exchange with the board of directors during an AGM
in June 1927, where he questioned their policies, he was relieved of his duties. He left football after this.
