Fort Abbas is a town in Bahawalnagar District
in the Thar Desert
of Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated North to Sub-District (Tehsil) of Harunabad and town of Faqirwali
and on the border with India
. Fort Abbas is an historic city and was of strategic importance during the Nawab
of Bahawalpur
's rule. The language of this city is Punjabi. Formerly connected with other parts of the country through road and railway track. One side is connected directly with the Pakistan-Indian border. Modern communication is available by way of internet, telephone and known as Pholra, it was renamed in 1927 by Nawab Sir Sadiq, who named it after his eldest son Muhammad Abbas.

Fort Abbas is the largest Tehsil by land area and is one of the five tehisils of the Bahawal Nagar district. It is mobile phone. Recently, there has been a good improvement in the education sector especially for students who want to become doctors or engineers.
The city is surrounded by forests, deserts and agricultural land. The land of Fort Abbas is very fertile, but there is a shortage of water canals. Because of that a lot of fertile land is uninhabited as there is a serious lack of water. Hacra Canal is the main canal which provides most of the water to the area. There is a need to widen the canal to avail the water in the desired capacity. Major crops are wheat, cotton and sugar cane.
