In December 2010, owner J. Michael Loomis issued a statement saying that the team would not play in 2011, stopping short of suspending operations. Loomis did say he would try to regroup for 2012. According to published reports, Loomis failed to find investors or financial resources to keep the team active in 2011. There is a chance the FireHawks comeback in 2012 as part of the Indoor Football League
