Florencia de Benito Juárez, is a municipality located in the southern extreme of the state of Zacatecas
on the edge of the Canyon of Tlaltenango
. To the north, the municipality is bordered by the municipality of Atolinga
and the state of Jalisco
. To the south, the municipality is bordered by the municipality of Teúl de González Ortega
and to the east by Teúl de González Ortega and Tepechitlán
. To the west, it is bordered by the state of Jalisco. The municipality covers an area of 329 km².
In 2000, the municipality had a total of 4,368 inhabitants, of which 2,406 lived in the municipal seat. On 28 July 2011, the municipality's mayor, Fortino Cortés Sandoval, aged 39, was shot dead.
