Hale served as member of the board of education 1916-1925 and as chairman 1918-1925. He was a delegate to the New Hampshire constitutional convention in 1918 and a member of the New Hampshire Tax Commission 1920-1925. He was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth and to the three succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1925, until his death in Brooklyn
