The passenger usage statistics materially understate the passenger traffic. For example, many schoolchildren hold season tickets from Chichester but actually board a train to Portsmouth in the morning at Fishbourne. They often have to return home via Chichester Station due to the confusing and sporadic off-peak train stopping patterns.
