Leaving his home in Rio De Janeiro in 1959, Da Silva concluded a decade as an in-house talent for J. Walter Thompson, McCann-Erickson and Grand Advertising in Brazil. Working as a studio illustrator and a freelance artist in the US, the artist's work appeared regularly in Playboy, Encyclopædia Britannica, World Book Encyclopedia, the Chicago Tribune and other print venues.
