History

FM 1301 once traveled further east into West Columbia, intersecting SH 36 and ending in downtown West Columbia at SH 35, which ran along Seventeenth Street. SH 35 was rerouted along a new path, intersecting FM 1301 at a point west of West Columbia and continuing along FM 1301's former route into West Columbia, making Seventeenth Street "Business 35".
