Farid Makari

Farid Nabil Makari is a Lebanese Politician .

Engineering graduate of the University of Texas at Austin , he joined the company Saudi Oger and Oger International , where he was close to its founder: Rafiq Hariri .

During the 1992 parliamentary elections he was elected for the Greek Orthodox seat in Koura in North Lebanon .Between 1995 and 1996 he was Minister of Information in the Government of Rafiq Hariri .He was reelected in 1996 , 2000 , 2005 and 2009.

Member of the parliamentary bloc of the Future Movement of Saad Hariri , he was chosen by the parliamentary majority for the position of Vice-President of Parliament .

He lived for a few months in Paris towards the end of 2005 , having received death threats.

His relations with the President of Parliament , Nabih Berri , have experienced some periods of tension, but they reconciled in early summer 2006 .

He has been since 2005 Vice-President of the Lebanese Parliament.
