Falling-out is a culture-bound syndrome
seen in the southern United States
and the Caribbean
. It is characterized by a dizzy, "spinning" sensation that eventually results in the sufferer collapsing unconscious. While unconscious, sufferers report being unable to see, even if their eyes are open, yet say they can hear and understand events around them.
