The club was formed in 1923 under the name Mladi Radnik. The first club president was Aleksandar Ratković. The first match Mladi Radnik played was against SK Triglav where they lost 2-0. The first visitor to play FK Mladi Radnik was SK Radnički from Belgrade

. The construction of the town's stadium began in November 1949 and it was finished on 6th June 1957. Newly-built stadium has received 35.000 spectators and the first game which was played on, which was between Radnički and FK Partizan Belgrade and it ended 2-2. After renovations in 2007, stadium capacity is 15,100 seats and it is the 6th largest football stadium in Serbia.
There are also plans of building a roof and putting spotlights so that it fulfills the UEFA standards for European mathces.

The largest attendance was on 24th August 1969 when Radnički played against NK Hajduk Split. The attendance was 40,000.
