Esquerda Marxista has a majority in the Movimento Negro Socialista (Socialist Black Movement, MNS), including President José Carlos Miranda who is well known in Brazil and is regularly invited to debate on television on issues of racism. The organisation has played a leading role in FRETCO, the Brazilian movement of factory occupations.
