. Perkins' 2008 novel Novel About My Wife won the 2009 Montana Book Awards. The book was considered amazing and truthful by the jury. Perkins said it was one of her best books and was very close to her heart. She told Radio New Zealand National's Morning Report programme that the award meant a lot to her.
