SEPTA broke ground on November 16, 2009, to add an additional 90 parking spaces in the congested parking lot, costing nearly a million dollars. Completion date is slated for June 2010. Previous plans to expand the tight parking lot were vetoed by the town of Elwyn, who insisted SEPTA reinstate service to West Chester instead.

Prior to being named Elwyn, the station was known as Greenwood.
