Kelly first appeared in the popular television soap opera

 Crossroads as early as 1964 but it wasn't until 1968, after playing lots of small parts in the series, that she was given a more regular role as cleaner and gossip Mrs Tardebigge, a role which lasted until the series' demise in 1988.

After a lengthy gap from television work she appeared in the film Intimate Relations in 1996 and then returned to television to play Joan, the cook in the 1996 - 1997 television adaptation of The Famous Five
