The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Elroy Bub (ASN: 544477), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, A.E.F., near Mezy, France, 15 July 1918. Private Bub successfully carried messages through terrific artillery and machine-gun fire and was wounded while performing the mission.
