, between Nottingham and Derby. The Elms opened in 1999 as the Prep School of Trent College and is a day school for pupils from the ages of three to eleven. It shares the same site as Trent College. The Nursery is housed in its own building and caters for children aged 3-5.

Buildings and facilities

The Elms developed a dedicated music teaching centre and created new teaching space for Cookery, Art and Design & Technology (DT) in 2010. The Elms has benefited from the addition of a first-rate dedicated music teaching centre comprising nine instrumental teaching studios and a large music classroom. Provision has also been made for new bespoke teaching space for Cookery, Art and DT. A new annex now also houses LAMDA and Learning Support space for the Elms.

Music

It is the norm for Elms juniors to play an orchestral instrument and the end of year Music Extravaganza often features more than 150 musicians, making it the largest children’s orchestra in the region. A Chapel Christmas Concert, Spring Strings and a Summer Brass and Woodwind concert were held for parents during the year. The Elms continues competes successfully against a large number of leading independent schools in rugby, hockey, football and netball. The school retaining of the Westbourne Football Tournament in 2010.

The school holds a Michaelmas Market each November.
