Electives

In sixth and seventh grade students have the choice between Technology Education and Family and Consumer Science. Eighth grade does not have Family and Consumer Science as a class, and students are randomly placed in either Technology Education or Design Technology. In Technology Education students learn how to use tools and work with groups to make different projects, such as mousetrap cars and wooden shelves. While in Family and Consumer Science students learn how to cook different meals and take care of the families and houses if ever needed to. In Design Technology students use computers to make different things like claymations and soda can labels.

In eighth grade students have the choice of taking either French 1 or Spanish 1. In these classes they learn all the basic vocabulary and grammar of the language in order to move on to French 2 and Spanish 2 in high school. If students choose not to take a language, or if their seventh grade teachers believe they aren't ready for one, they take reading. In reading, students learn all the things they need to help enhance their reading skills to be able to take a language in ninth grade.
