After the death of her father Philip, she became the ward of her cousin, Frederick, King of Sicily
(later Emperor Frederick II); he later married her to Ferdinand III of Castile. The marriage was celebrated at the end of November of 1219 or 1220 in the Royal Monastery of San Zoilo in Carrión de los Condes
(Palencia). In Castile, she was known as Beatrice, the name borne by her eldest sister, the Holy Roman Empress, who had died in 1212. Queen Beatrice died in Toro, Spain.
