First years
Coulibaly emigrated to Belgium and never had the intention of becoming a professional football player. he started playing football in the local team of KFC Oostakker to integrate with the people in the area. This hobby soon became serious, as Coulibaly became better. In the summer of 2005, he started playing in the team of KMSK Deinze, which played in Second Division, and in which he scored 15 times in 36 games.
KV Kortrijk
After two seasons in Deinze, Coulibaly made a transfer to the West-Flemish team KV Kortrijk. His first season was quite difficult, as he only scored five goals in 27 games. Nevertheless, KVK managed to promote to First Division. Consequently, the season 2008-2009 became the break-trough of Coulibaly. Thanks to his 11 goals, Kortrijk managed to stay in First Division.
AA Gent
Coulibaly got the interest of AA Gent and in the summer of 2009, he signed a contract of 3 years in the team of Ghent. He was transferred as back-up of the often injured Zlatan Ljubijankic. At the start of the season, he only got some rare turn raids. It took until the road game in Mechelen until Coulibaly could score his first goal. After this, he went on scoring very easily and made 11 goals during the season, which helped AA Gent to become vice-champion. He also won the cup and became by this a little hero in Ghent. His second season in Ghent was a little less spectacular than his first. He started self-assured and helped Aa Gent to the group phase in the Europa League, but lost after a while his basic place to Shlomi Arbeitman, who had been traded during summer. Elimane also got many critics from the supporters by his lazy way of playing football, but just as a year before he started to play better during winter break.
