.
He was played by Shane Lynch
, former member of Boyzone
. The character was not a success with fans, making few appearances, and eventually leaving after just one season.
Eli took over at the beginning of the eighth series, when Harchester had just been relegated to the first division for match fixing
. Convinced by Don Barker
, he saw it as an opportunity to pick up a Premiership
level club for a knock-down price whilst they were still in the Championship
.
Mr. Knox made his money though a vast gambling empire, he was the founder of luckbealady.com, and was himself a gambling man. It was the toss of a coin which made him decide to purchase Harchester United. His gambling was so compulsive that at one point he gambled away Tommy Valentine to his friend, and owner of CSKA Moscow.
Preferring to let his staff run the club, Eli often delegated his responsibilities to Dean Boyle, the CEO. However, when the need arose, he could also take charge, evidenced by his firing off Dean Boyle, and attempting to sack Don Barker
at least twice. At the end of season 8 he sold the club to Casper Rose for a cheap price as Harchester was going into liquidation because nearly all the players at the club where killed
