. Eldora is located adjacent to the Iowa River and Pine Lake State Park. The city is most famous for the filming of the 1996 movie Twister on location. The climactic final scene was shot in a house in Eldora which can be toured today. The city is the location of the State Training School for Boys, a school for male juvenile delinquents.

living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% were non-families. 34.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.89.
In the city the population was spread out with 29.8% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 22.2% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $33,170, and the median income for a family was $39,421. Males had a median income of $31,545 versus $17,891 for females. The per capita income
