With the growing population of Edison, ridership has increased over the last 10–15 years, resulting in a shortage of parking spaces on weekdays and heavy traffic during rush hours. In early 2005 plans were announced to expand the station, notably with the addition of 800 parking spaces. A new parking lot with 477 spaces opened on January 1, 2010.
