EOI utilizes research, education and advocacy to shape public policy debate and promote new public policies focused on shared prosperity, retirement security, work-life standards, and education.

Its mission is to forge realistic and robust public policies that build long-term economic security, promote economic opportunity, and ensure the benefits of prosperity are universally available for Washington's middle-class and low-income workers.

EOI does not solicit or accept public funds; its work is funded primarily by donations from private individuals, grants from private foundations, and a small amount of union support.
