School of Love

East Tipp has been given the nickname "The School of Love" because of the tremendous school spirit of the students. Over the past decade, East Tipp has contributed many "mountains" of food to Food Finders Food Bank. They have also donated thousands of dollars for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the program Pennies for Patients. In the front entrance hangs a red banner proclaiming that East Tipp is the "School of Love."

Despite of the tough economic times, the School of Love still managed to raise $500 on the last day of the 2009-2010 school year. On the day before, the students had been informed to bring in $1 "that would be donated to a charity." During the Awards Ceremony on the last day, the amount of money raised and the receiving charity was announced. The selected charity ended up being Food Finders Food Bank, which East Tipp had faithfully donated to for many years. When asked on the last day whether the school should donate it to Food Finders that day or wait for the next year's Food Flood, the students eagerly replied "NOW!" before the second option was even said. The dedicated students understand that people are hungry now. This extreme generosity shown in one day for an unknown charity just shows exactly how much the School of Love cares for the community.
