The school serves students from many Iron Range towns including, but not limited to: Eveleth, Gilbert, Virginia, Mt. Iron, Buhl, Chisholm, Hibbing, Cherry, Biwabik, Aurora, and Hoyt Lakes. East Range Academy of Technology and Science is located near the intersection of and Progress Parkway. As of the 20010-11 school year, the school had an enrollment of approximately 105 students and 15 staff members.

The East Range Academy of Technology and Science is founded on the belief that all students have a desire to accomplish something important. Young adults need to be given responsibility for their own learning, guidance to accomplish that learning, and an authentic audience to whom they can present that learning. Students learn best when making connections from their education to the people and environment around them. They want to be participants in their world, not simply observers of that world. The East Range Academy of Technology and Science will provide students the opportunity to work to their full potential in a challenging and stimulating learning environment.

Mission

The East Range Academy of Technology and Science will provide a rigorous, personalized curriculum to high-school students of all achievement levels to prepare them for post-secondary education or training. Our goal will be accomplished by creating and offering classes that are:

1. Relevant to today’s students.
2. Integrated with technology and science.
3. Rich in strong, traditional academic expectations.
4. Project-based and service-based – allowing students to apply concepts and theories to real world problems.
5. Personalized to each student’s interests and needs.
6. Delivered using exciting and innovative instructional methods.

Students will become independent learners who are knowledgeable in academic content and proficient in the use of the 21st century information technology skills that are needed to succeed as productive adults in today’s world.
