. East Hills is home to the Imani Christian Academy which is based in the former East Hills Elementary school building. East Hills was once home to a flourishing shopping center that was the farthest point for citizens of Pittsburgh's East End to shop and work. The entire shopping center is now empty and overrun with weeds and debris. The neighborhood of East Hills also had a reputation of being one of the worst neighborhoods in the city in the 90's and a large murder and drug rate did not help matters. However recently the neighborhood has gone under a metamorphosis of change and progress and the neighborhood is now a quiet and peaceful low income neighborhood on Pittsburgh's East End.
