In 2009 the ETH Bioenergia bought Brenco , a Brazilian renovables enegy company and become the world leader in the production of ethanol from sugar cane.

The company produces 3 billion liters of ethanol per year, 2,500 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year of electricity energy from biomass, 37 millions tons osf sugarcane crushing and 600 thousand tons of sugar. Its takes 10% of Brazilian production and 5% of world production of biofuel.
