on Route 46

From the mid-1800s until the early 1900s, Durhamville was home to Erie Canal
barge construction and repair. In particular, it was home to an Erie Canal lock which was abandoned when the route of the canal was changed. It was also the location of the Fox & Company glass house which, at the time, was one of the largest glass companies in the nation.

living together, 9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% were non-families. 19.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the hamlet the population was spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 20 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 13% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38.4 years.
