The village was under the rule of Panchayati Raj until 1996, administrated by village Sarpanchs named Natha Singh Gill, and afterwards his elder son Kuldeep Singh Gill. Dugri was then under a municipal corporation.
Later KAKA DHARAMDEV SINGH was elected Councillor of Dugri and was suceeded by his wife GURDEEP KAUR.

Major areas under Dugri segment of Ludhiana are Urban Estate Phase 1, Urban Estate Phase 2, Himmat Singh Nagar, Nirmal Nagar.

History

Formed about 200 years ago, Dugri is situated on banks of Sidhwan Canal. It is a residential area of Jatt Sikh people along with members of other families of different casts. There are mainly two Jatt families, Badesha and Gill. The Badesha families came from village Sarinh and Gill families from village Gill. Hence the village Dugri has two parts known as Sarinh Patti and Gill Patti according to density of these two families.

Dugri also has a Govt. Primary school and K.S.Public senior secondry school (private)

Bibi Kanika Nancy Puri who reside near Dugri is a social worker undercover who has helped several people of the village by spending even her own pocket money. She is mostly known as Nannu in the nearby areas of Dugri
