. The station is scheduled to open in the summer of 2012 and will initially be the terminus of the East Manchester Line up until the winter of 2013/14, after which it will continue to Ashton-under-Lyne.

The station will be located on Ashton Road at the junction of Market Street in the town centre.

 before continuing through the city centre

 towards other destinations, whilst eastbound trams will originally terminate at Droyslden upon opening before heading towards Ashton-under-Lyne in the winter of 2013. Trams will run every 12 minutes Monday-Saturday daytime, increasing to every 6 minutes at peak times. On Sundays and Bank Holidays, there will be a 15 minute service.

Controversy

There has been much controversy surrounding the development to the Metrolink line, with many Droylsden residents complaining about the disruption to traffic and local businesses.
