Dor Guez

Dor Guez is a Jerusalem-born photography and video artist, lives and works in Jaffa. He is a lecturer in the history and theory department at Bezalel academy of art and design

Guez received his BFA from the Department of Photography and Video, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2006), and his MFA from the Interdisciplinary Program in the Arts, Tel Aviv University
(2008). Guez is a graduate of the Museology Studies (Curatorship) Program, Tel Aviv University (2009), he is currently a PhD researcher at the Faculty of the Arts, Tel Aviv University.
Guez's artistic production employs photography and video installations to engage with general questions of identity and multiculturalism through the personal history of Guez's family. His work explores an intricate, multifaceted reality, challenging the boundaries and prevalent binary oppositions between East and West, Jews and Arabs, religion and secularism and Israel
i and Palestinian
identity.
Guez's work has been the subject of several solo exhibitions, including Georgeopolis (Petach Tikva Museum), the Monayer Family (Jewish Museum
, New York, 2010), and the survey of his work at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin. As a curator, his major projects include Back to the Canon: The Photographic Portraits of Claude Cahun (The Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon, 2008), Forbidden Junctions (The Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon, 2009) and The Exotic West at the framework of 2010 Sao Paolo biennial.
Guez is the recipient of the Young Artist Prize of the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Science for 2010.
