It is named after its sponsor, textile millionaire Sir Harry Djanogly.

Djanogly operates on two sites – the 14-19 Centre in the old CTC building on Sherwood Rise, and the 11-14 Centre in a new building designed by Foster & Partners on the site of the former Forest Comprehensive School.

The academy has recently won a national prize for its use of ICT.

The academy has recently introduced a new curriculum model, based on the Australian New Basics Curriculum.

The Academy has encountered somewhat high rates of bullying which was recognised by parent's and ex-students of the School, which prompted them to create an anti-bullying page on social networking site Facebook.
