On Burtons map it is located south of Mt Horab and Elat on the northwestern shore of the Gulf of Aqaba a bit northeast of the desert of Paran which is a wadi running across the southern part of the Sinai from the Gulf of Suez to the Gulf of Aqabah. Tophel
is in southwest Jordan a bit to the north of Elat along the boder of Edom and Midian on the road north to Petra and Moab.
