The nearest cities are Mumbra and Dombivli. Diva junction also connects with rail link to Panvel from where Konkan railways originate to Goa and Mangalore. Diva is primarily a railway junction and was almost deserted until 2000. Even now there is little urban population for a railway junction so close to Mumbai.

Diva is now developing, roads are devloped, currently there are railway flyover bridge is in progess

It is believed that since Mumbai was originally a collection of 7 islands and connected to hinterland by British people through two main lines one passing through Diva to Kalyan junction and the other through Vasai junction to Virar and Dahanu. Vasai was always populated even during 19th century.
Many people believe that there is water immediately below the land at Diva and so buildings can not be stable.
