Dingdong Avanzado is a singer and composer in Philippine music industry. Regarded as one of the most outstanding Concert performers, this multi-platinum recording artist/ songwriter/ director and total entertainer garnered several attributes such as “Kilabot Ng Mga Kolehiyala”, “Crush Ng Bayan” and dubbed as “The Original Prince of Pop”.

Early life

He was born as Fernando Avanzado on July 7, 1968 in Quezon City

His performance in movie theme songs prompted Dyna Records to sign him up as record deal. His single, “Ikaw Lamang” earned his first Gold Records Award. His first major concert dubbed Shine On was held in Rizal Theatre.

In 1988, he released under Dyna Records his eponymous album containing 8 tracks including hit singles “Ikaw Lamang”, “Maghihintay Sa’Yo” and “Tatlong Beinte Singko” (composed by then 17-year-old Rannie Raymundo). On the same year, he staged his second major concert at the Folk Arts Theatre.

From 1989- 1990, he performed two major concerts in ULTRA (University of Life Amphitheater). He also made stints in movies and starred in several youth-oriented films of Viva like Pik Pak Boom, I Love You Three Times A Day, Estudyante Blues and Love At First Sight.

Dubbed as The Prince of Pop, his hit songs like “Makapiling Ka Sana”, “Basta’t Kasama Kita”, “Hindi Mo Na Ba Minamahal”, “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal”, “Paniwalaan Mo” became movie theme songs in late eighties and early nineties.

From 1991- 1994, Dingdong returned to performing and touring different regions of the country. His nationwide tour enabled him to gather more audience and further increased his popularity. His fame raised a step further when his compositions “Paalam Na” and “I Will Be There For You” gained recognitions which cemented his place in music business.

On 1997, he recorded his 7th album entitled Decade After in celebration of his ten years sojourn in music scene. The album spawned hits like “Wish I Could” and “To Love Again” of Sharon Cuneta. The album went to platinum establishing him as one of the top recording artists in the Philippines.

On 1998, he embarked in new career as he ran for public office and seated in City council of 3rd District of Quezon City. In the span of three years, he was able to establish the Quezon City as the “City of Stars”, highlighting the major film networks in the film and music industry to boost tourism.

It was also during the time when he met and married one of the Philippines’ biggest selling female recording artists, Jessa Zaragoza. In 2002, the couple held their much-awaited concert dubbed as “In Love” at the Folk Arts Theatre. After this, several foreign concert followed performing in countries like Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and The United States.

Here To Stay was another album released on the same year under Star Records. It produced hit “Walang Kapalit” of Rey Valera. The song later became a soap opera starring Piolo Pascual and Claudine Barreto. Aside from singing, Dingdong started directing concerts for other artists.

On 2005, he directed the concert of Ara Mina, Marissa Sanchez and Jessa Zaragossa dubbed as Soul Siren. 2006 was the release of Laging Ikaw, a historic Duet Album of Universal Records. Moved to U.S. with their daughter, the two began entertaining the Filipinos based in countries like US and Canada.
