Die Monster Die is a New York City alternative/punk band which was originally formed in Athens, Georgia. Their name is a reference to the 1965 horror movie
of the same name starring Boris Karloff
(which was very loosely based on the H. P. Lovecraft
story "The Colour Out of Space"
).
The band are also known as DMD.
(formerly of Shag Motor Pony and The Vels
) came on as lead singer (and to also share work on bass guitar), joining New Orleans native Kenny Sanders and founding member Evan Player. Guitarist Shawn Tracy (a native of Sioux City, Iowa) joined the band in 1992 after meeting Evan Player at the recording studio where they both worked.
