(CDP) used for statistical purposes and does not have any legal status as an incorporated municipality. The population was 2,289 at the 2000 census.
The community is in Frenchtown Charter Township
on the shore of Lake Erie
about three miles northeast of downtown Monroe
. The area defined by the CDP is bounded on the northeast by South Grove Drive, on the northwest by North Dixie Highway, and on the southwest by the Sandy Creek
. The CDP of Woodland Beach
is adjacent to the northeast. Sterling State Park
is adjacent to the southwest.

living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.5% were non-families. 16.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.23.
In the community the population was spread out with 28.6% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 34.0% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.7% who were 65 years of age or older.
