. She is a goddess of pleasure, and her cult is licentious and hedonistic, worshipping her with orgies. She is the consort of Father Set. Derketo is described as being popular in Shem, Stygia, and Kush.

Derketo, goddess of the Philistans worshiped in Askalon (Syria), was portrayed as half-woman, half-fish.
Herodotus (first book- klio) calls her divine Aphrodite (Venus).
According to Herodotus, her temple in Askalon was destroyed by the Scythians (Gimirrai Iskuza), who were therefore punished by the goddess with femininity disease.
