. The department of Electrical and Information Engineering is the only department in Sri Lanka that offers Electrical, Electronic, Communication, Computer and Information Engineering under one specialisation stream.

Facilities
The department has 3 main laboratories namely Electrical Machines & Power Electronic Laboratory, Electrical Measurements &Electronic Laboratory and Communication & System Engineering Laboratory. In addition to that department has a separate computer resource center from the main computer center at the faculty for specialized applications and research.
Staff
Dr. Chanadana Perera serves as the head of the department. Currently the department has 4 senior lecturer and 13 lecturers. Most of the academic saff are on study leave doing their post graduate degrees.Research and Conference papers
