. The airport is located 29 kilometers southwest of the city center. Construction started in December 2010 with an estimated total investment of 630 million yuan, and the airport is expected to start operation in June 2013. When completed it will become the fourth civil airport in Qinghai.

Facilities

The airport will have one runway that is 3,000 meters long, and a 4,000 square-meter terminal building. It is projected to handle 200,000 passengers annually by 2020.
