was called West Bradley, the decision to change the name to Deighton was when the Deighton family bought the area stretching from Screamer Woods (near the Deighton Fields) to Sheepridge

students. Deighton High School closed on 31 August 1992 and most students and some teachers where relocated to nearby Fartown
High School. The centre was renovated to become a sports/music venue and the recently built Deighton Arena houses a gym, squash court and basketball court. It is also a venue for Reggae Dancehall
music.
The chemical company Syngenta
has a large plant off the A62
Leeds Road.
The nearby Leeds Road Playing Fields contains Football, Cricket
and all weather pitches. Plus a sports hall and an athletics
